Born: 01/12/1948
Pen Name: BHAVISHYTKAVI
Occupation: Writer and Social Reformer
The First Step:
A graduate in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry by education. Served in the government institutes for about 3 years in treating the ailing animals in rural and tribal areas. Born and brought up in a village with no roads, no drinking water, no medical facility, no transportation except a temple and a school. I always believed Gandhiji saying: India is in villages”. I was determined to improve the living conditions of our numerous villages especially in the area of education. I strongly feel that all our problems are on account of illiteracy.
Employment:
As most other veterinary graduates I picked up a government jog as a Veterinary Surgeon in a remote backward village. I did my best within my control and used go an extra mile by joining informally the village communities.
I used to organise informal meetings and gossip sessions with farmers in trying to change their mindset and to be aggressively pursue their profession which is agriculture and livestock development – the real lifeline of our Bharat. I needed to empower myself if I must herald change.
So, I left the government job partly because of the wicked and ignoble activities of politicians and partly to pursue my goal of becoming a change agent. I picked up a job in marketing with Sarabhai Chemicals and served there a decade with high reputation for my education oriented rural service.
By that time, I was quiet popular among Amul farmers service centres and provided strategic direction to Amul Veterinarians. Thereafter I moved to Delhi accepting a marketing job in a reputed Indian organisation “Ranbaxy”. Working in Ranbaxy allowed me to travel across North and Eastern India thus complimenting my understanding of India in depth.
Novartis – a Swiss Pharma Giant:
From Sarabhai destiny dragged me to Mumbai to work in a Swiss Multinational “NOVARTIS: to set up an animal health division. I took up the challenge and built a very sound, productive, people and customer-oriented organisation. I was following two principles in Novartis.
1. If people grow profits grow, 2. Profit is only an economic convenience.
At the same time the working guidelines remain business oriented namely Sale is sanity, Profit is vanity and Cash is reality. I had built brick by brick a one-man organisation to rise the employee number to 600 people and several indirect beneficiaries. My management style was different as I was ingenious expecting a miracle every second and was variable. I think. That is why I am.
My style of management is called Individualised Organisation or Personalised Company. This was a concept developed by the Vice Chancellor of ISB Mr. Sumanto Ghoshal along with Chris Argiris. Every employee owns the company and its results. I inculcated a sense of ownership with greater transparency and empowerment.
I got connected with all the family members of my staff, suppliers, stakeholders by frequently networking with them inquiring if they need any help. During this period, I was exposed to several advance courses in marketing and management, Important among them are a marketing course in Harvard USA and a Finance course in Ashridge UK, I was looking after the business in South Asia as CEO. The work was very fulfilling as I was loving my job.
Willingness is very important and it was said if one is pushed into heaven unwillingly, he is not going to be happy in heaven. Several animal health camps, Farmers training programs were conducted, and I promoted under CSR activity composite Dairy by only woman in Vijayawada. In Nepal, to the unemployed youth I gave my products allowing them to sell to his relatives, friends or farmers and the margin he earns to be kept for himself.
Something Beyond Business:
I was Chairman of All India Animal Health Companies for 12 consecutive years. I worked closely with Royal Society of bird protection and Natural History Society Mumbai in preventing use of Diclofenac in animals whose dead bodies wwhen eaten by vultures these vultures die. And already they became endangered species.
Politics and Public Service:
While working in Novartis my passion for politics was always alive and I believed that I cannot change the society without political power, I joined hands with one upcoming political party of a famous film hero Chiranjivi called Prajarajyam.
I was with them helping to give a shape and in installing it. Due to their unethical practices I had to leave it just before taking off, but still the desire to serve the people of Andhra Pradesh was burning in me .At this time an intellectual who resigned the job of IAS to float a political party with focus on curbing corruption by name LOK SATTA.
The party ideals, objectives and values were matching my dream, and I soon became the part of the party. I was State president for six years and contested assembly polls in 2009 from Malakpet. The party slowly started checking out of active politics due to financial crunch and leadership inertia.
I joined Prof. Kodandaram who was one of the persons who fought for statehood to Telangana. He is intelligent, well informed but suffers from constipation of expression. His thoughts failed to reach the voters. Since the future looked bleak, I chose to join the long standing national party – The BJP, as I always wanted Akhand Bharath by way of federal set up.
To my dismay in most states in India under the mask of democracy the feudalism continued. What is going on is either feudalistic democracy or democratic feudalism, this must change, Corruption, Caste politics, religious bias, Nepotism, Vote selling and Seat buying that reflecting a state of anarchy and bad governance and dumping of Indian Constitution.
My Political Philosophy:
- Primarily work for democratic values and constitutional rights
- good governance is main motto with quality and timely services. Strictly implement Right to Public Services Act.
- Nothing that is not in line with our constitution will be adopted.
- focus will be on development and reforms in key segments like health, education, employment, agriculture and setting up basic infrastructure.
- No caste, creed, region, religion, language-based politics.
- Strategically to fight corruption
- Believe in liquor control as a solution to poverty.
- Strive for the upliftment of SC, ST, BC, MBC, minorities and a and wandering tribes.
- Leadership talent and potential within the party and train and develop them to shoulder key responsibilities.
- Follow internal democracy, empowerment and political. discipline…
- Bring in a new political culture with the participation of youth and women.
- Encourage women participation in politics and support mahila saadhikaaratha and reservation.
- Consider agriculture as a state occupation and ensure profitable price to the farmer.
- Modern farming technology will be down loaded up to village level.
- Strongly recommend electoral reforms by adopting to PR or Damasha system Proportional Representation Model) with minor improvements.
- Don't subscribe giving government freebies to public as this is not an answer to poverty. eradication. People must work more, produce more, earn more with lf-respect. These schemes made them beggars and dependent.
- Will not engage in buying votes and selling party tickets.
- Will promote voluntary inter-caste marriages to reduce caste discrimination.
- Only one person from a family is allowed to contest in any election. Between one election to the next one should observe election holiday for one term.
- People play major role but not leaders. Government should reach to the doorstep of people.
- Foster national pride and praise its glory.
